Nursing Care
There are four Nurse-led wings at St Vincent’s Nursing Home, each supported by a team of Healthcare Assistants and overseen 24-hours a day by our Nurse Managers.
Our individualised, person-centred care promotes well-being and helps support optimum independence and positive outcomes, working in partnership with each resident. Health promotion plays an active part in our service, enabling individuals to make their own decisions and choices concerning their own care, its planning, delivery and monitoring.
Our Rooms
St Vincent’s Nursing Home has 62 comfortable, single en-suite rooms which are designed to support the dignity and independence of its residents. The home is divided into four wings over two floors, with each wing accommodating approximately 15 residents, helping us to maintain a manageable, close-knit community feel.
Room Features & Amenities
- Accessibility: All en-suite bathrooms are fully wheelchair accessible, ensuring ease of use for residents with varying mobility needs.
- Safety technology: Rooms are equipped with a 24-hour nurse call system and can be fitted with sensor equipment if necessary to alert staff to movement to help maintain resident safety.
- Views and surroundings: Each room is designed to offer an excellent view, with many overlooking the home’s beautifully landscaped gardens.
- Connectivity: Each room includes a TV point, direct dial telephone and access to WiFi internet, allowing residents to stay connected with family or enjoy personal entertainment.
- Personalisation: While rooms come fully furnished, residents are encouraged to bring small items of personal furniture to make the space feel more like home.
Living Environment
Each wing features its own communal lounge and dining area, providing space for socialising or sharing refreshments with visitors. The home’s location on the brow of Haste Hill provides a tranquil setting adjacent to historic woodlands, contributing to the peaceful atmosphere of the residential spaces.
Spiritual care
At St Vincent’s, spiritual well-being is an integral part of our daily life. We are proud of our on-site chapel, which serves as a sanctuary for reflection and prayer and where our residents can attend daily Mass.
Deeply rooted in a strong Catholic ethos, we go beyond traditional care by providing the comfort of our resident Priest. This ensures that the spiritual needs of our residents are met, whether seeking a moment of quiet prayer or to provide a sense of belonging.
Hairdressing & Personal Care
We have an on-site hairdressing salon where residents can be pampered by our visiting hairdresser.
All fees are charged at cost price to our residents.
Laundry & Housekeeping
Comprehensive laundry services are carried out on-site and are included in the standard fees.
Transport Services
The home has its own wheelchair-accessible minibus for outings.
Additionally, an in-house resident transport service (subject to availability) can be booked for appointments at a lower cost than commercial taxis.
Healthcare Support
Residents health and well-being is further supported by regular visits from the Community Nurse attached to our GP practice, alongside a wide range of healthcare professionals when required including;
- Chiropodist – Residents receive 4 complimentary routine podiatry visits per year

- Pharmacist
- Specialist Palliative care Nurses

Supporting care with technology
St Vincent’s embraces advances in technology to support the care it provides. Nurse call systems and electronic care plans help ensure rapid response and personalised support is given to reflect any changes.
Electronic Medication Administration Records and e-proxy (electronic proxy) systems significantly enhance the safety, efficiency, and transparency of medication management by replacing traditional paper-based charts with digital, real-time tools while dependency tools use real-time data to guarantee safe staffing levels.
Together, these tools reduce administrative burdens, allowing staff to focus on high-quality, direct resident care.
